New York State Police arrested Sanford J. Mohel, 49, of 23 Beverly Drive, Great Neck, N.Y., charging him with one count each of sexual assault, interference with the custody of children, and corruption of minors, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Mohel's extradition to Pennsylvania is pending, according to a police report.
Man still in hospital after being struck
HALFWAY - A Hagerstown man remained hospitalized Wednesday after being struck by a car on the ramp from Halfway Boulevard to the northbound Interstate 81, Maryland State Police said.
Brandon David Pile, 21, of Woodburn Drive, was in serious condition at Washington County Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
According to police, a 1989 Plymouth struck Pile at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was driven by Nathaniel Andre Johnson, 41, of Baltimore.
The car's windshield was damaged in the accident, but Johnson was not hurt, police said.
Trooper 1st Class Charles Faith was investigating the accident, police said.
Wallet stolen from man after leaving bar
A man leaving a bar at 2:04 a.m. Tuesday with two new acquaintances was relieved of his wallet and $80 in cash, according to Hagerstown City Police.
The victim told police he had struck up a conversation about hunting with a man and woman in a bar in the 100 block of East Franklin Street.
As the trio left the bar, the victim told police he pulled out his wallet to give the couple his telephone number. The man grabbed the wallet and the two fled, the victim told police.
The empty wallet was found a short time later.
Tire and wheel stolen from car
The theft of a new tire and wheel from a car parked at the rear of 712 Guilford Ave. was reported Tuesday to Hagerstown City Police.
The loss was estimated at $110.
Sheriff's Department probing break-in
BOONSBORO - The Washington County Sheriff's Department is investigating a break-in at 18857 Lappans Road at Wednesday morning.
Intruders were able to enter the house at 9:06 a.m. after smashing the window glass of a side porch door, police said.
The intruders then went upstairs and were startled by Charlotte Jane Mullendore, 70, who was awake.
The intruders then fled downstairs and out the back of the home, police said.
One fell down the stairs and knocked over a magazine rack, police said.
One suspect was described as a tall, white male with a medium build, possibly wearing green clothing.
