Chambersburg loses phone for an hour

July 02, 1997

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Telephone service in Chambersburg Borough was out for about an hour Tuesday morning.

Anyone trying to call or fax into or out of the borough received a busy signal or a recording, said Jordan, a repair representative at Sprint telephone company.

Business lines to borough emergency services were down for the hour, but calls to 911 were not affected.

"It got fixed pretty quickly," Jordan said, though he didn't know what caused the problem.

Phones went out just before 10 a.m. Workers had it fixed by 10:40 a.m., Jordan said.

Fayetteville residents were not affected.
