June 24, 1997

Hagerstown businessman Wayne E. Alter Jr. was named chairman of the Hagerstown Junior College Board of Trustees during the board's annual reorganization Tuesday.

Alter, president and CEO of Hagerstown-based Dynamark Security Centers, has served on the board for five years. He was vice chairman during the past year.

Hagerstown resident Carolyn W. Brooks, appointed to the board in 1993, was named vice chairman.

Florence M. Murdock was reappointed to the board for a six-year term. Murdock has been on the board since July 1985.

As the last meeting of the year drew to a close, outgoing Chairman Merle S. Elliott turned over the gavel to Alter, who praised his predecessor.
