Trash pickup schedule changed

June 24, 1997

Hagerstown residents with newspaper and junk mail they want to have picked up for recycling before the July 4 holiday must put it out at the curb tonight.

There will be no such pickup next Wednesday because the trash schedule for North End residents will change for the holiday, said City Engineer Bruce Johnston.

Next week, North End residents who normally put their trash out on Thursday nights will put out their trash on Wednesday night, July 2, to be picked up early Thursday morning, Johnston said.

Trash put out on Thursday, July 3, will not be picked up the next morning.

The trash schedule for South End residents will not change for the holiday.

Mixed paper should be put in a reusable container or paper bag or bundled with twine or string and placed at the curb today after 4 p.m. It will be picked up early Thursday.
