LOS ANGELES - Jordy Carper, the 10-year-old Berkeley County, W.Va., boy with cystic fibrosis, was doing well Saturday, two days after a double living lung transplant, said Steve Rutledge, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles spokesman.
"Monica Horn, the transplant coordinator, was there today, and said he is alert, still writing notes because of the respirator tube down his throat," Rutledge said. "He's asking for Popsicles and liquids, but he can't have that while the tube is still in his throat."
These are all encouraging signs, Rutledge said. However, he said, there is never any guarantees until the first few weeks are over.
