Officials planning a mural of the Rochester House at its former location are looking for high school and college art students to help with the project, said City Planner Kathy Maher.
Work on the mural should start June 30 and be completed by the end of July, Maher said.
Students interested in working on the project with muralist Bettina Messersmith can call Maher at 301-739-8577, ext. 140 or the Washington County Arts Council at 301-791-3132.
High school students participating in the project could earn student service learning credits, Maher said.
The mural is to depict the Rochester House during the Civil War, when it served as a makeshift hospital for Union and Confederate wounded.
It will be painted on a retaining wall of the Rochester parking lot at the corner of South Prospect and West Washington streets.
