Kids fest will open Friday

The sixth annual Kids Alive Fest is set for Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Children's Village of Washington County.

In addition to safety and injury prevention demonstrations every half hour, there will be fire, police and Emergency Medical Services displays.

A big highlight of the afternoon will be the Dunk-A-Cop Booth, which this year will feature Washington County Sheriff Charles Mades; Hagerstown Police Chief Dale Jones, Lt. Bob Frick and Officer Randy Rourke; Hancock Police Chief Donald Gossage; Lt. Bruce Tanner and Trooper 1st Class Russ Plante of Maryland State Police.

Sponsorship packages are being sold ahead of time to individuals and businesses as part of the moneymaking efforts for the child safety program at the village.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be K-9 demonstrations, child fingerprinting, photos of children in mini cars, a bike safety demonstration, boat/water safety tips, and tours of the Power of Fire House.
