Friday night at 8, Cinemax premieres the deliciously witty, if slow and plotless "Mystery Science Theater 3000" movie.

For those of you unacquainted with the show, its premise is to sit some wisecracking robots and a human before awful B-movies and see what quips will fly at the screen. It's a bit strained as a movie, but it is fun.

Saturday night at 8, HBO premieres a movie which will be grounds for a future "Mystery Science Theater" - "Independence Day." Last year's big box office smash is a cheesy, trite, embarrassing catastrophe. On the big screen, it was bearable for its spectacle - on the small screen, it is laughable nonsense.
