Driver, 2 passengers face drug charges

SMITHSBURG - A Myersville, Md., man and his two passengers were arrested on drug charges late Saturday night, according to the Smithsburg Police Department.

Officer Shawn Tyler was on routine patrol when he saw a car pull off of a curb at West Water Street and cut off another car at about 10:40 p.m., Chief Tommy Bowers said.

The driver, Samuel David Lafferty, 27, of 3005 Ventrie Court, was charged with DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was found in possession of a marijuana pipe with marijuana residue, police said.

Ila Marie Stover, 34, of 20668 Beaver Creek Road in Hagerstown, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Joseph Gary Wesmiller, 31, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He did not list an address, but Bowers said police believe he is from the Boonsboro area.
