W.Va. man dies of burns

DARKESVILLE, W.Va. - A 78-year-old man died Thursday after suffering first- and second-degree burns over most of his body, officials said.

Rescue officials responded to Lee W. Palmer's home at the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and U.S. 11 about 9:48 a.m., officials said.

Officials would not say how Palmer was burned.

Palmer was transported to City Hospital and then flown to Washington Hospital Center, where he died at 4:11 p.m., according to a hospital spokeswoman.
