FREDERICK, Md. - Three people were killed and four injured Thursday in a two-car accident at U.S. 15 and Fish Hatchery Road, Maryland State Police said.
The 4 p.m. accident closed the road for about two hours.
Killed in the accident were Clyde Smith Albrecht, 77, of 809 Montclaire Ave. in Frederick, his wife, Adabelle Abrecht, 73, and a passenger in their car, Mary Frances Shankle, of Rocky Springs Road in Frederick, police said. All three died at the scene, police said.
Abrecht was traveling east on Fish Hatchery Road in his 1986 Oldsmobile when he failed to yield and collided with a 1990 Chevy Cavalier driven by Jessica Mary Grabowski, of 150 Geobob Lane, Gettysburg, Pa., police said.
Grabowski, 18, and three passengers in her car, Melanie Grabowski, 18, Melanie Joy Probst, 18, of McKnightstown, Pa., and an identified infant were injured. Jessica Grabowski, Probst and the infant were treated at area hospitals and released. Melanie Grabowski was listed in good condition at Frederick Memorial Hospital late Thursday, hospital spokesmen said.
