CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A 61-year-old Shippensburg, Pa., woman was killed Wednesday night when her car was struck broadside as she was trying to make a left turn at an intersection in Green Township, Pennsylvania State Police said Thursday.
The victim was identified as Gladys Fickes of 5486 White Church Road. She was driving a 1992 Buick, police said.
The other driver involved was Loren Druist, 21, of 1341 Pinola Road, Shippensburg. He was driving a 1990 Ford, police said.
According to police, Fickes was making a left from a stop sign at Byers Road onto Pine Stump Road. She was partially into the intersection when Druist crested a hill but could not stop in time to avoid hitting her car. Fickes' car was hit on the driver's side, police said.
Fickes was pronounced dead at Chambersburg Hospital, police said.
