Hagerstown City Administrator Bruce J. Zimmerman was awarded a $4,076 raise Tuesday night by a unanimous City Council vote.
Zimmerman's annual salary will be $73,382 starting in June, officials said. He was earning $69,306 a year.
It is the first raise for Zimmerman in two years because Council members never got around to giving him his step increase due last year, said Eric Marburger, the city's personnel manager.
Zimmerman will be given $2,184 retroactive to June 1996, when he should have been awarded a step increase, officials said.
His salary should have gone to $71,490 last June, officials said.
Zimmerman was hired in June 1994.
