Telethon raises $97,593 for Parent-Child Center

April 22, 1997

The ninth annual Parent-Child Center telethon Sunday raised $97,593, about $3,000 more than last year.

"We are very happy with the results," said Janet Cole, director of the prevention programs at the center. "The whole staff is pleased."

The goal of the three-hour effort on NBC 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. was to generate funds and improve community awareness of the center's efforts to promote a healthy, safe and nurturing environment for at-risk children and families.

The center, which was established in 1983 by the Exchange Clubs of Washington County, provides prevention programs, advocacy services and parenting workshops.
