Car damaged from flaming corn cob

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg resident's car was damaged Tuesday night when a piece of corn cob soaked in a flammable substance ignited inside the vehicle.

No one was in the vehicle at the time.

The fire damaged a plastic bed liner on a 1992 Ford F150, police said. Police estimated the damage at $400.

Frederick man faces drug charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man who was initially arrested on a trespassing charge late Wednesday night faces additional drug charges, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Atu A. Adeyemi, 24, of the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive, was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.


An officer saw a man walking in the John Hanson apartment complex for about 30 minutes, police said. When the man told the officer that he did not live in the complex, the officer discovered that a no trespassing notice had been issued to him previously, police said.

Adeyemi was being held on $56,000 bond Thursday night.

Baltimore man faces coke charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Baltimore man faced drug charges Thursday after Frederick Police found six small glass vials of suspected crack cocaine, police said.

Ricky N. Smith, 21, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, police said.

Police approached Smith in the area of West South and Center streets around 12:45 a.m. because he was wearing clothes that weren't appropriate for the cold temperature, police said.

A pager and $230 in cash also were found, according to police.

Smith was being held in the Frederick County Adult Detention Center Thursday morning on $50,000 bond, police said.


Frederick man charged with theft

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was charged with theft and trespassing on Wednesday night after being accused of stealing a red warning marker light cover and a green cover from a city sewage pumping station, according to Frederick Police.

Seth J. Zebovitz, 18, of Stewart Manor Apartments, was being held in Frederick County Adult Detention Center Thursday on $1,000 bond, police said.

Man charged with traffic offenses

FREDERICK, Md. - A California man faced drug and traffic charges Thursday, including driving while intoxicated, according to Frederick Police.

Brian Michael Sorensen, 25, of Pacific Beach, Calif., was charged after police stopped him for making an unsafe lane change in a red truck in the area of the 300 block of North Bentz Street at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, police said.

A controlled dangerous substance smoking device, known as a "bowl," was found in his pants pocket, police said.

Sorensen also was charged with driving while revoked, unsafe lane change, failure to display license and registration, driving with expired license and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

He was being held in Frederick County Adult Detention Center Thursday morning on $8,000 bond, police said.

Teen missing again

A 17-year-old boy who was returned home to the Cedar Ridge Children's Home on Wednesday is missing again, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Christopher Barthelow walked off the campus of The Marshall Street Education Center at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, authorities said. He was at the complex to switch school buses, deputies said.

Authorities said they believe Barthelow is in the Hagerstown area.

Barthelow walked off the school's grounds in much the same way last Friday.
