Rape victim changes story

April 03, 1997

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A 16-year-old girl who claims she was raped Monday night at a Waynesboro hotel has changed her story, according to Waynesboro Police.

The girl, who originally told police she was raped on the steps leading down to the basement of the Leland Hotel on Main Street, told police Tuesday that the incident allegedly happened at the Roselawn Motel, 2347 Molly Pitcher Highway in Chambersburg.

During an interview at Waynesboro Hospital after the incident, the girl told police she was raped by a black male after she accepted an offer by him to drive her home from McDonald's restaurant in Waynesboro, where they had met.

She told police the male also stole $40 out of her pants pocket.

Pennsylvania State Police are now investigating the incident.
