A flatbed tractor-trailer carrying a roll of steel overturned on westbound Interstate 70 at the exit to Md. 66, shortly before 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Maryland State Police.
The trucker, who wasn't identified, was taken to Washington County Hospital, where he was still being evaluated at 11:30 p.m., said hospital spokesman John C. Costopoulos.
At that point, the man's injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening, Costopoulos said.
As of late Wednesday, it appeared that only the truck was involved, police said.
The steel roll didn't come off the bed, police said.
Traffic was being diverted from the blocked lane off the exit ramp onto Md. 66 and back onto the interstate, so there was no backup, police said.
