SHARPSBURG - Residents of Sharpsburg's Main Street area will lose water service for about eight hours on Thursday, according to the contractor renovating Main Street.
Water service will be cut off around 8 a.m. and should be restored by 4 p.m. for many residents along Main, Mechanic, Antietam and Chapline streets, said Driggs Corp. officials.
The more than 100 affected residents should receive fliers notifying them of the temporary action, officials said.
The service is being shut down so water lines at the intersection of Mechanic and Main streets can be lowered for installation of a storm drain, officials said.
Main Street renovations include sidewalk and curb reconstruction, water and sewer line reconstruction, road resurfacing and landscaping.
