City Light customers may notice smaller bills

March 26, 1997

Hagerstown City Light customers may have noticed a slight decrease in recent bills, said Manager Terry Weaver.

Every year, City Light officials estimate how much wholesale power the city will need to buy from Allegheny Power, and last year they overestimated slightly, Weaver said.

The mild winter might have been a contributing factor, he said.

As a result, the monthly bill of the average City Light customer who uses 1,000 kilowatt hours should have dropped 30 cents starting in February, Weaver said.
