HANCOCK - The Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association Thursday approved a resolution to change the name of the emergency services coordinator when the position is filled.
Jerry Reed, who formerly held the job, earlier this month announced he was leaving the position.
Association President Jay Grimes said the organization wanted an administrative assistant, not a "coordinator."
"We need somebody to do paperwork," he said. "We're looking for a top-notch secretary. We're looking for an administrative assistant."
Grimes said an emergency medical services administrative assistant also may be hired, but he cautioned that the Washington County Commissioners might be unwilling to fund two positions.
The position is funded by the county, but the individual is "under the total direction of the association," Grimes said.
Grimes said he also thinks a far more detailed job description should be given to the new person hired. Reed had only a one-page job description, he said.
