Suns begin single-ticket sales push

March 20, 1997

The Hagerstown Suns will begin selling individual tickets for the 1997 season today, including seats for the June 4-7 series against the Charleston (S.C.) RiverDogs.

The Charleston series will be the only local regular-season appearance of Matt White. The Waynesboro, Pa., native and one of the top prospects in the Tampa Devil Rays farm system will likely pitch in the series.

"The club is extremely excited about the possibility of seeing Matt pitch at Municipal Stadium this season," Suns general manager David Blenckstone said. "If he is assigned to the RiverDogs team, it certainly will be a great homecoming both for the White family and baseball fans in the Tri-State area."

The Suns have already sold a number of tickets to the four-game series, but all have been for general admission seating. Box seats for the series will now be available.

"We have had inquiries about tickets to this series ever since Matt signed with the Devil Rays," Blenckstone said. "Now fans have the opportunity to get their tickets well ahead of time."

Individual tickets for all Suns' home games are also available. Fans may purchase tickets at Municipal Stadium weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by calling (800) 538-9967 or (301) 791-6266.

The 1997 ticket prices remain the same as last season - $6.50 for box seats, $4.50 for adult general admission and $3.00 general admission for students and seniors.

Some of the promotional nights for the season include: seat cushion giveaway (March 17); fireworks (May 30); the Blues Brothers (May 31); beach towel giveaway (June 6); fireworks (June 29); kid's jersey giveaway (July 4); bat night (July 12); and fireworks (Aug. 30).
