MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - An unidentified woman found dead behind a convenience store in Martinsburg last Friday died of multiple stab wounds, according to Deputy Berkeley County Coroner David Brining.

The woman suffered stab wounds to the chest and stomach area, said Brining.

Martinsburg police said no identification was found on the body.

The woman, described as white and in her 50s or 60s, was found stuffed inside a sleeper sofa behind the H-Mart in the Martinsburg Plaza, police said.

Martinsburg Detective George Swartwood said officials are trying to identify the woman through fingerprints and other methods.

Police said the woman was about 5-foot-2 and about 160 pounds. She had gray hair peppered with brown and was wearing upper dentures, police said.
