March 13, 1997

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man walked off with about $60 following a robbery of an Exxon service station along North Queen Street Wednesday, according to West Virginia State Police.

The robbery occurred about 3 p.m. at the Exxon station just off the Queen Street exit of Interstate 81, said Trooper D.M. Olack.

The robber initially walked into the service station and asked a clerk if she could make change for a $50 bill, Olack said. The clerk said no, and the man left the store, Olack said.

The man then came back in the store and demanded money, Olack said.

When the man entered the store the second time, he had a sweatshirt hood drawn tight to cover his face, Olack said. The man did not display a weapon, Olack said.
