CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Agriculture Commissioner Gus R. Douglass has issued a call for donations of hay in the aftermath of last week's flooding.
Douglass said a number of farmers have had much of their hay washed away or contaminated.
"We have some farmers who have lost their total feed supply and I'm looking at how to get those animals fed," he said. "We will begin looking for alternative feed sources once the emergency crunch is over."
Douglass asked farmers with hay to donate to call the West Virginia Department of Agriculture's Marketing and Development Division at 1-304-558-2210.
