Motorcyclist, passenger hurt in U.S. 15 wreck

FREDERICK, Md. - A motorcyclist and his passenger were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center early Saturday morning after the driver lost control exiting U.S. 15, according to Maryland State Police.

David C. Dalton, 37, of Frederick, was in critical but stable condition Saturday night, according to a hospital spokesman.

Kimberly M. Taylor, 39, of Frederick, was in critical condition in the intensive care unit, the spokesman said.

Dalton was exiting from northbound U.S. 15 onto westbound U.S. 40 around 1:50 a.m. when he lost control, police said. Both Dalton and Taylor were thrown from the motorcycle.

Police were still investigating the cause of the accident Saturday.

Missing man spotted

A man whom Washington County sheriff's deputies have been looking for since he left his home Feb. 15 has been spotted in the Halfway area but is still being sought.

Brian Keith Blevins, 38, of 427 Antietam Drive, reportedly was in a depressed state when he left home around noon that day, deputies said.

Blevins is 6 feet 2 inches tall, 175 pounds, clean shaven with brown collar-length hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a maroon hooded jacket, a Navy blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown boots.

Two injured in assault

Two men were in fair condition Saturday at Washington County Hospital following an assault in an apartment at 31 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown City Police said.

Detective George Knight said police were called to Apt. 6 at 6:40 a.m. Saturday.

Both men needed of medical attention although apparently no weapons were involved, Knight said.

The circumstances of the assault were sketchy Saturday night. Knight did say that no one was in custody. An investigation is continuing.

Accident victim's condition still critical

The 37-year-old Greencastle, Pa., man who was injured Thursday in a motorcycle accident on the Dual Highway remained in critical but stable condition Saturday at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

James L. Beard was first taken to Washington County Hospital following the 2 p.m. accident, then flown to Baltimore.

Driver is charged

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man faced drug and traffic charges Friday night after he skimmed a stand of trees while driving, according to the Frederick Police Department.

David L. Stull Sr., 37, of the 200 block of East 5th Street, was charged with possession of marijuana and a drug smoking pipe as well as negligent driving, driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license, a violation of probation, police said.

Stull was being held in the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on Saturday night in lieu of $71,000 bond, police said.

Frederick man held

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was being held in the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on Saturday night without bond on several drug charges, including distribution of crack cocaine, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Oliver Jerry Hatcher III, 19, of 8222 Fox Hunt Court, also was charged with two counts of possession of crack cocaine and two counts of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, police said.

Hatcher was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night as a result of a sting operation by the Frederick Police Tactical Unit on West 7th Street at Motter Avenue.

Pa. driver injured

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A St. Thomas, Pa., woman was still being treated late Saturday at the Hershey Medical Center for injuries sustained after the car she was driving struck a tree earlier in the day, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Tina Marie Spealman, 26, was charged with driving under the influence, police said.

Spealman was eastbound on Pennsylvania 30 west of Pioneer Road around 2:35 on Saturday morning when her 1987 Ford struck a tree on the south side of the road, police said.

Spealman was taken to Chambersburg Hospital then transferred to Hershey. Her condition was not available.

Teen faces drug charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick teenager is facing several drug charges after a sting operation by the Frederick Police Tactical Unit on Friday night, police said.

The 17-year-old was charged with two counts of possession of crack cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine, police said.

He was released to his mother's custody, police said.

The teen was arrested around 11:20 p.m. on Friday near a fast-food restaurant in the 1000 block of West Patrick Street after police allegedly purchased crack cocaine from him, police said.

Wedding bands stolen

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A pair of gold wedding bands was among $1,700 worth of items reported stolen from a Talhelm Road home in Antrim Township between Valentine's Day and Feb. 18, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The other items stolen were an antique electric lamp, dishes, bed sheets, a Hot Wheels race track, a brass oil lamp, a covered wagon clock with four bronze horses, and a clock of an old house with a woman on a rocker.

Bicycle stolen from porch

FREDERICK, Md. - Maryland State Police are investigating the theft of a bicycle that was stolen from a porch on Sugar Maple Court early Saturday.

The Diamondback mountain bike was chained to a patio chair, police said, so the thieves took the chair too. Total loss was $500.
