Local residents willing to break a sweat to earn their own home may apply for one of two houses Habitat for Humanity of Washington County plans to construct starting in April, Habitat's board president said Thursday.
Habitat volunteers and employees of Brethren Mutual Insurance Co. could by October complete the first of two houses to be built in the first block of West North Avenue, said Jan Russell.
The insurance company is supporting construction of the home, both with labor and financially, as part of its 100th anniversary activities.
Construction on the second one-story house would begin after the first home is complete, she said. Habitat typically builds three-bedroom, single-family homes.
