FREDERICK, Md. A 27-year-old Frederick man was charged with making a false report of a crime after he allegedly told police his estranged wife had stolen a car.
Daryl L. Gibson, of No. 6 Taney Apts., was released on personal recognizance shortly after the 11 p.m. Friday incident.
Frederick City Police were called to his apartment after Gibson called to say his vehicle had been stolen. He allegedly told police the keys, which were also gone, had been in the apartment and there was no forced entry.
When the vehicle was spotted parked on Phebus Avenue, police were approached by a woman who said she owned the car.
After a check, police went back to Gibson's apartment and arrested him.
