Pension meeting is rescheduled

January 18, 1997

A meeting between Hagerstown and Maryland state officials to discuss a compromise concerning the city's $9.96 million debt to the state retirement system has been rescheduled to Thursday, officials said.

Mayor Steven T. Sager will meet with Maryland House of Delegates Speaker Casper R. Taylor Jr. and other state officials in Annapolis at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Sager has said he hopes to get state officials to waive a 7.5 percent interest rate that would balloon the debt to $49.2 million over 40 years.
