WOLFSVILLE, Md. - A human skeleton found Friday in a wooded area of Frederick County appears to be that of a white woman, 25 to 40 years old, who may have been wearing a wedding band, investigators said.
Pathologists at the Maryland medical examiner's office also speculated the body had been in the woods one to four years, Maryland State Police Cpl. Todd May said.
The manner and cause of death haven't been determined, May said.
The woman is believed to have been 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 5 inches tall, he said. She wore petite clothing and size 6 underwear, based on garment remnants found at the scene.
Investigators who combed the site Monday found a white gold ring, possibly a wedding band, May said.
A group of amateur archaeologists discovered the skeleton.
