WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Washington Township Manager Mike Christopher has brought a disciplinary proceeding against Police Chief Kurt Braun on an undisclosed matter, officials said.

After a closed session of township supervisors on Monday night, a hearing on the matter was scheduled for Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. But Braun said Tuesday the meeting would have to be rescheduled because he will be on vacation.

"There will be a hearing," he said.

Braun said he would have no comment now.

Supervisors Chairman Richard Eigenbrode said the board discussed the situation for a short time in a closed-door session Monday, which he said was the first time the subject had been raised to his knowledge.

He said he could not comment further. "I'm just not allowed to talk about it," he said.

Christopher also said he could not comment because it was a personnel matter.

Eigenbrode and Christopher said they didn't know if the hearing would be open to the public or not. Eigenbrode said the supervisors were being advised by solicitor Richard Walsh.

Braun has been chief since 1983.
