McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A McConnellsburg man was killed Sunday morning after losing control of his vehicle, which went airborne before striking a tree on Pa. 1011 just north of Boy Scout Road in Dublin Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Timothy Dale Brown, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Coroner Denny Butterbaugh.
Brown was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. There were no passengers.
Brown was travelling south at a high rate of speed at 4:05 a.m. when he lost control on a slight left-hand curve.
The vehicle traveled onto the west berm and hit a metal reflector, went up a dirt embankment and became airborne.
The vehicle flew about 20 feet into a tree, which struck the vehicle on the driver's side. The vehicle continued to side-swipe the tree as it rotated in a counter-clockwise direction.
The vehicle then traveled another 15 feet and came to a rest.
