WOLFSVILLE, Md. - The unidentified skeletal remains of a human body were discovered by a group of amateur archaeologists Friday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police.
The body was found in a wooded area about 100 feet off Hayes Road, near Md. 17, at about 4:30 p.m. by a group of people searching for animal bones, said State Police Cpl. Todd May.
May said the body appears to be that of a female, but it's difficult to be certain. He said there is no way of knowing at this point how the person died or how long the body has been there.
There was some clothing attached to the remains, but they had greatly deteriorated, he said.
The remains will be sent to the office of the chief medical examiner in Baltimore for further analysis.
The discovery does not seem to match any missing persons reports in the area, May said.
