Pro bowlers coming to Hagerstown

The Men's Duckpin Masters Professional Bowlers Association Tour and the Women's Grand Prix National Duckpin Association Tour will make stops this weekend in Hagerstown.

The men will compete at Long Meadow Bowl, the women at Turner's Dual Lanes. The combined championship rounds will start at 1 p.m. Sunday at Long Meadow Bowl.

More than $29,000 is available for the men. The women will be bowling for $12,455. The men's champion will get $8,000, the women's champion $4,000.

Washington County standouts Lori Bryan, Debbie Conrad, Andy Huffman, Larry Mason, Leon Myers Jr., Wade Simons, John Cauffman, Ronnie Jones and Bob Startzman will be in the starting field.

A combined Pro-Am Tournament will be held Friday at Long Meadow Bowl. A Senior Citizens shift will be held at 11 a.m., with two regular shifts scheduled for 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Qualifying rounds for the men begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Long Meadow. Additional qualifying will take place Saturday at 8:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., with the championship rounds starting at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Women's qualifying will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Turner's Dual Lanes. The semifinals will start at 10 a.m. Sunday, with the finals beginning at 1 p.m. at Long Meadow Bowl.

Karen Beaghan and Buddy Creamer are the defending champions.
