SCOTLAND, Pa - With the arrest of three Chambersburg men, Tri-State area police agencies were able to solve their third bank robbery in a week, police said.

A total of eight Tri-State area banks have been robbed since September.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested three men in connection with the robbery of Chambersburg Trust's Scotland branch.

According to police, they are:

  • Darrell Briddell, 26, formerly of Philadelphia, who had been living at 433 E. King St.
  • Eric L. Kilgore, 25, 23 N. Fourth St.
  • Frankie Dean Thomas, 36, 411 Cedar St.

All three are charged with armed robbery, the FBI said.

On the morning of Nov. 8, two men allegedly pointed a pump-action shotgun at bank tellers and demanded money, police said.

They grabbed the money and ran, but were arrested on Wednesday, police said.

Also on Wednesday, Hagerstown Trust Co.'s Jefferson Boulevard branch was robbed. After a high-speed chase through Hagerstown, police arrested suspect Michael Shawn Clark, 31, of 141 King St., Hagerstown.

On Thursday morning, a Washington, D.C., man was arrested 30 minutes after he allegedly made off with $1,650 from One Valley Bank's branch in Baker Heights, W.Va., police said.

Elvin Emanuel Campbell, 40, allegedly handed the clerk a note saying, "I will shoot," unless she gave him the cash, police said.

Of the eight area bank robberies this fall, at least one is unsolved. PNC Bank at 143 E. Queen St. in Chambersburg was held up Oct. 22 by a man with a knife.
