Pa. man dies in crash

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A Chambersburg area man died and his wife was in guarded condition Wednesday night after a car accident on U.S. 30, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Marlin D. Lehman, 72, of 3301 Anthony Highway, drove his 1988 Oldsmobile from New Road onto U.S. 30 into the path of a pickup truck about 5:20 p.m., police said.

His wife, Catherine E. Lehman, 71, was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital, where she was admitted to intensive care, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Both were wearing seat belts, police said.

The pickup driver, Francis T. Forsythe, 67, of Fayetteville, was not hurt, police said.

Forsythe swerved to the left, but couldn't avoid hitting the car, police said.

Franklin County Coroner Kenneth L. Peiffer Jr. pronounced Lehman dead at the scene from massive internal injuries at 5:40 p.m., he said.
