FANNETTSBURG, Pa. - Police were saying little Monday about the death of a Fannettsburg woman at her home.

Audrey Lucille Park, 62, of 17955 Fannettsburg Road, died of a shotgun blast to the head, said Franklin County Coroner Kenneth L. Peiffer Jr.

Peiffer pronounced the woman dead at 10:23 a.m. Sunday, he said.

Pennsylvania State Police were investigating the death as suspicious, according to a press release issued shortly after midnight on Monday.

An autopsy was conducted Monday in Allentown, Pa.

The Metal Township Fire Co. discovered the body after being called to the home Sunday morning. Volunteers there had no information about the death and referred calls to state police.

Park has lived in Fannettsburg, a rural village in northern Franklin County's Metal Township, for many years, neighbors said.

She was married to O. Ray Park, and was the mother of two daughters, according to information contained in her obituary.

Before her retirement, she had been employed as a computer programmer at Letterkenny Army Depot at Chambersburg.

"It's all pretty hush, hush," said Annette Thompson, at the nearby Fannettsburg Inn.

"We've been talking about it off and on all day. Everyone's just in awe that it happened," she said.

The Parks often had meals at the inn, about six doors away from their house, she said.
